Seeks volunteers to assist with general grounds projects or maintenance on the Fall &/or Spring Grounds Days. |
| Bulletin Boards & Banners |
Create and maintain bulletin board in the front hallway to inform and educate the public on PTA news and events. Create banners for new teachers. |
| Community Relations/Goodwill |
Write thank you notes to our community sponsors, teachers and parents. |
| Cultural Programming |
Schedule cultural events (such as music, art, drama, and dance) throughout the school year, including field trips as well as performances at the school. Volunteers help schedule and coordinate events. |
| Directory/Database |
Keep a current listing of all student and parent contact information and publish it for each family's use. |
| Ed's IGA Receipts |
Coordinate receipts from Ed's IGA store. |
| Emory-LaVista Council |
Attend the Emory-LaVista Parent Council meeting to stay informed of issues affecting schools in our community. |
| Family Night Dinner |
An event for families to enjoy a casual meal together at the school. Volunteers help plan the event and menu. |
| 5th Grade Fast Forward |
Organizes a dinner for 5th Graders and their parents to meet with Sagamore alumni. During this dinner, a question and answer session takes place between the two groups. This helps orient our outgoing 5th grades to challenges they might face in middle school. |
| Grant Writing |
Help write proposals for various fundraising needs. |
| Health Communication |
Volunteers help with messages for the newsletter or e-updates to inform and educate students and families on wellness issues. |
| Hospitality |
Help with refreshments for special school functions held through out the year. |
| Junior Great Books Program |
A voluntary program that allows 1st - 5th graders to begin the process of critical analysis and discussion of literature. Volunteers are trained to lead small groups of students in discussions twice a month. |
| K/1st Grade Open House |
Help publicize, give tours, staff the open house for new families and the community at large. |
| Legislation & Advocacy |
Committee stays informed of legislation & issues affecting the education passes this information on to PTA members. |
| Math Superstars |
Provides students a challenging math sheet each week. Volunteers grade math sheets and record student progress. |
| Math Tournament |
Volunteers help students prepare for the Math Tournament which is held in January. |
| Media Center Support |
Create displays on bulletin boards and doors to promote literacy themes. |
| Movie Night |
Volunteers coordinate a movie and concessions. |
| Music Concerts |
Work with a musical director to plan and coordinate the musical concerts. |
| New Parent Coffee |
Help organize and staff this event for parents of new children in the school. |
| Newsletter |
Keep Sagamore families aware of school happenings through news articles published in a monthly newsletter. |
| Nutrition, Physical Activity |
Seeks volunteers interested in helping with activities focused on improving nutrition and physical activity. |
| Outdoor Sign |
Keep the information current on the outdoor marquee. |
| PTA Membership |
Promote PTA membership and assist with the Membership table at PTA events. |
| Recycling/Go Green |
Seeks volunteers interested in helping with recycling and green lifestyle activities. |
| Reflections |
A national PTA art event that encourages students to create art expression reflecting a given theme. Volunteers help to promote and organize the event. |
| Registration/Open House |
Organizes and oversees our Open House and Registration in August. |
| Room Parents |
Helps coordinate classroom parties/events by communicating with other parents and the teacher. |
| Running Club |
Volunteers help train students to run the Peachtree Jr Road Race (non-competitive 3K run). |
| Safe Routes to School |
Volunteers help with Walk to School events and other activities that support walking, biking and multi-family carpooling to/from school. |
| Sally Foster |
Assist with Sally Foster fundraising in the Fall. |
| School Handbook |
Maintain handbook covering all of Sagamore's policies, PTA activities and so forth. |
| School of Excellence |
Assist with ensuring our school meets the School of Excellence criteria. |
| School Pictures |
Organize individual and class pictures. |
| School Spirit Merchandise |
Volunteers needed to help distribute flyers, oversee selling of merchandise at school events, maintain inventory, and help with filling and delivering orders. |
| School Store |
Volunteers needed to operate the school store Friday mornings from 7:20 to 7:50 AM. |
| School Supplies |
Orders school supply boxes for interested persons for the following school year. |
| Science Olympiad |
Volunteers help students prepare for the Science Olympiad competition which is held in the spring. |
| Sock Hop |
Event where the students dance the night away. Volunteers help plan and supervise the event. |
| Spanish-Speaking Parents |
Identify needs and provide representation for our Spanish-speaking population. |
| Special Needs |
Identify needs and provide education to staff and students about students’ special needs, such as special education and medical issues. |
| Spring Carnival |
Spring event to reward children for reading accomplishments. Volunteers help plan and work at various booths |
| Spring Production |
A theatrical event for 4th & 5th-graders to perform onstage. Work with a musical director to plan and coordinate all aspects of the event, from auditions through final production. |
| Talent Show |
Volunteers help plan and supervise the talent show. |

Volunteer help coordinate gifts, etc. for each of the teachers. |
