The 2010-2011 PTA officers are excited about the coming school year. They are always open for your suggestions and especially for your help! The PTA is for everybody! Please get to know your officers this year – their contact information is always listed at the bottom of each PTA newsletter.
Co-Presidents
Co-Presidents responsibilities include: working with our principal to establish the school calendar and the PTA budget; setting the agendas and presiding at all general membership meetings, PTA working sessions, and executive committee meetings; attending PTA council meetings, district meetings, workshops, conventions, and conferences; ensuring that the PTA board has the tools and information it needs to perform its jobs.
Vice President of Administration
The VP of Administration oversees various on-going and one-time activities throughout the year by working with the following committees: Advocacy, Building and Grounds, Emory/LaVista Council, Hospitality, Kindergarten/First Grade Orientation and Open House, Membership, Middle School Orchestra, New Parent Coffee, Registration, School of Excellence, and School Spirit Wear.
Vice President of Communications
The VP of Communications ensures that information is available to the Sagamore Hills school community by overseeing the following committees: Bulletin Boards, Directory/Database, Newsletter, Marquee, Mail, Publicity, School Handbook, School Pictures, Spanish-speaking Parents, PTA Website, and Yearbook.
Vice President of Enrichment
The VP of Enrichment is responsible for programs and special events that enhance academic development by overseeing the following committees: Accelerated Reader Carnival, Art Show, Book Fair, Cultural Programming, Math Superstars, Family Night Dinner, Music, Reflections, Sock Hop, Junior Great Books, Special Needs, and Science Lab.
Vice President of Fundraising
The VP of Fundraising oversees campaigns and special events to raise the money needed to meet the PTA budget by overseeing the following committees: Sally Foster, Boxtops for Education, Enrichment Fund, Magnets, School Spirit Nights, and Corporate Relations.
Vice President of Wellness The VP of Wellness is responsible for programs and special events throughout the year which enhance the wellness and health of our students by overseeing the following committees: Health Communication, Nutrition/Physical Activity, Recycling/Go Green, Running Club, Safe Routes to School and Wellness Drives.
Secretary
The Secretary maintains accurate records of the meeting proceedings of the PTA general membership, board, and executive committees. He/she takes meeting minutes, archives documents according to the PTA bylaws, and corresponds with others on behalf on the PTA board.
Parliamentarian
The Parliamentarian ensures that all PTA general membership, board, and executive committee meetings are run according to the PTA bylaws. He/she educates PTA officers about PTA regulations and procedures.
Treasurer
The Treasurer manages the budget and finances of the PTA. He/she receives and disburses all money in accordance with the bylaws and the approved budget.
