The Emory LaVista Parent Council began in 1977 in response to the establishment of middle schools in DeKalb County, specifically- changing Shamrock High School to a middle school feeding both Druid Hills and Lakeside High Schools. The original ELPC charter included the feeder schools to Shamrock Middle who then matriculated to Lakeside or Druid Hills High Schools. A few years ago, the organization realigned to include Henderson Middle School and its feeder elementary schools. Through issue-oriented meetings and an involved constituency, ELPC has established itself as an excellent source of information and a venue for communication concerning educational issues facing our children and our community.
The 16 member schools serve a diverse population of more than 10,000 DeKalb children.
